Week Eight

Objective:

  • To decide new component to replaced

Procedure:

After been studied about RF Module and accelerometer, we decided to change to other better component. After been studied, RF Module contain many noise and quite hard to find coding, so we decided to change to Bluetooth. It can transmits data in range of 2.48Mhz so higher than RF Module.

Besides, we also decided to change sensor from accelerometer to Force Sensitive Resistance (FSR). This because some characteristics of the FSR is better than accelerometer.  It have thin and flexible surface so it suitable with our project to put under shoe's insole. Hence, the price also affordable compared to accelerometer.

Week Seven

Objectives:

  • To search coding that related with our project

Procedure:

In this week we had studied how to write coding and how using MPLAB software. We using MPLAB because it can combine with simulation from Proteus. This is for use to test either the coding can run on the circuit. So, we had searched coding part by part such as coding of push button, RF Module for the transmitter and receiver, LCD and for the sensor.

Week Six

Objectives:

  • To check the simulation with our supervisor
  • To do correction that needed with our simulation

Procedure:
When we have already finished the simulation last week, we need to check the simulation with supervisorAfter we check the simulation with the supervisor, we need to do correction with our simulation circuit. In the simulation does not have component of our sensor.

Then for the sensor, our supervisor suggested to put push button to represent sensor in simulation. After that we ask other people that have more experience, they said replace the sensor with analogue input.

Week Five

Objectives:

  • To simulate of the project's circuit

Procedure:
By using Proteus, we have to design a circuit and run the simulation to ensure the circuit run successfully before we construct the circuit on board. During doing the simulation, some of the component not found such as the Radio Frequency (RF) Module and the sensor. For the Bluetooth, we just connect between two microcontroller PIC's leg number 25 and 26 that for transmitter and receiver.

Objectives:

  • To make simulation for our project
  • To make final decision for the sensor

Week Four

Objectives:

  • To find the way to relate sensor and calories burn
  • To know how the sensor will detect the footsteps

Procedure:

Accelerometer basically using three-axis signal input which are X-axis, Y-axis and Z-axis. It was noted that each distinct step was always characterized and count when by two acceleration on the X-axis along with one steep deceleration in Z-axis as shown below.

When accelerometer detected footstep and it will send to microcontroller to do calculation of calories burn.
